The German Kitchen House of the North East
Haus of Design is the only kitchen studio in the North East where you can compare Schüller, next125 and Nobilia side by side in one showroom. Three German manufacturers, three different price points, one place to see how they actually feel — the doors, the drawers, the finishes — before you commit to any of them.
We have designed, supplied and installed German kitchens across Teesside, County Durham, North Yorkshire and the wider North East since 2008, from our showroom at 15 Portrack Grange Road, Stockton-on-Tees.
Three brands, honestly compared
Most showrooms carry one German brand and will tell you it suits every project. Carrying all three lets us give you a straighter answer: match the brand to your budget, your space and your taste — not the other way round.
| Brand | Best suited to | Typical installed project |
|---|---|---|
| Nobilia | Excellent value without compromising German engineering — ideal first German kitchen, rental-to-forever homes and developments | from around £15,000 |
| Schüller | The sweet spot of design freedom, finish choice and price — our most popular brand for family homes | £25,000 – £45,000 |
| next125 | Architectural, handle-less design at the premium end — statement kitchens for self-builds and significant renovations | £40,000+ |
Schüller
Family-owned and made in Herrieden, Bavaria, Schüller offers one of the widest ranges of finishes, colours and storage systems of any German manufacturer. It is the brand we specify most often — flexible enough for galley kitchens and open-plan living spaces alike.
next125
next125 is Schüller’s premium studio brand: precise grid architecture, handle-less lines, real-wood veneers, ceramics and glass. If you want a kitchen that reads as furniture rather than fitted units, this is where to look.
Nobilia
Nobilia is Europe’s largest kitchen manufacturer, and that scale is exactly why it delivers so much kitchen for the money — rigorously consistent quality, modern styles and quick lead times at a genuinely accessible price.
What a German kitchen really costs
The bands above are typical fully installed projects — design, cabinetry, delivery, installation and project management, with VAT included. Every kitchen is priced individually, but we publish these ranges because “price on application” wastes everyone’s time.
When you compare quotes, check what a supply-only price leaves out. It usually excludes some or all of: installation, worktop templating and fitting, appliances, sinks and taps, removal of the old kitchen, and any electrical or plumbing alterations. A lower headline number is not a lower project cost. For a deeper breakdown of what each band buys, see our full guide to German kitchen prices in the UK.
See all three before you decide
Brochures cannot tell you how a drawer closes. Our Stockton-on-Tees showroom has working displays from each brand, with worktops, appliances and storage you can open, load and lean on. We are open Monday to Saturday, 9am–5pm — no appointment needed to browse, though a free design consultation gets you a designer to yourself.

German kitchen questions, answered
Why choose a German kitchen at all?
Rigid factory-built cabinets (not flat-pack), precision hardware, and finishes engineered for decades of daily use. German kitchens consistently outlast and out-function similarly priced alternatives.
Which of the three brands is right for me?
It depends on budget, space and taste — which is the honest answer and the reason we stock all three. Fifteen minutes in the showroom comparing them side by side usually settles it.
Do you design and install, or just supply?
Both, end to end: survey, design, supply, installation and project management by our own team — one point of responsibility from first sketch to final snag.
How do I start?
Book a free design consultation — at the showroom, at your home, or online — and bring your ideas, plans or Pinterest boards.
Still torn between the two German brands at the top of the range? Read our honest guide to Schüller vs next125 — which is right for you, written by a studio that sells both.
Which is the best German kitchen brand?
There is no single best one — it depends on budget, space and taste, which is exactly why we hold three rather than one. Schüller offers the widest range of ways to solve a room, next125 the most reduced architectural result, and Nobilia the most accessible way in. Fifteen minutes comparing all three in person settles it faster than any brochure.
Are German kitchens worth it?
Against cheap flat-pack, yes over any sensible timeframe: rigid factory-built carcasses, precision hardware and finishes built for daily use, all carrying a five-year manufacturer’s warranty. Against other well-made kitchens the gap narrows, and the honest answer is that it depends what you are comparing against — which is why we publish our price bands rather than just asserting value.
Are German kitchens good quality?
The construction standard is the reason for the reputation. Cabinets are built and squared in the factory rather than flat-packed and assembled in your kitchen, and the hardware is rated for years of daily opening and closing. All three brands we hold carry a five-year manufacturer’s warranty.
What is a German style kitchen?
Usually: handleless or minimal fronts, rigid factory-built cabinetry, precise and consistent gaps between doors and drawers, and storage engineered into the design rather than added afterwards. The look is reduced and functional rather than decorative.
How much does a German kitchen cost in the UK?
Installed and VAT-inclusive: Nobilia from around £15,000, Schüller between £25,000 and £45,000, and next125 from around £40,000. Room size, tall cabinetry, worktop material and appliances move a project within those bands.
