The Rise of the Kitchen Living Space: Why It’s the New Heart of the Home
At Haus of Design, we specialise in open-plan kitchen living spaces that combine cooking, dining, and relaxing in one seamless environment. Since 2008, we’ve been helping homeowners and developers across Stockton-on-Tees, Middlesbrough, Yarm, and wider Teesside design kitchens that are as functional as they are beautiful.
Why Choose an Open-Plan Kitchen?
Gone are the days of small, closed-off kitchens hidden at the back of the house. Today’s homeowners want a kitchen that’s the heart of the home — light, spacious, and perfect for modern living.
The benefits of open-plan kitchen living spaces include:
Sociable living – Cook, chat, and entertain all in the same space.
Maximised space – Removing walls creates flow and makes your home feel bigger.
Brighter homes – Natural light travels further through open layouts.
Flexible design – Ideal for remote working, family life, and multi-use spaces.
Modern Kitchen Design That Blends Form and Function
Designing a successful open-plan kitchen isn’t just about removing walls — it requires expert planning, spatial awareness, and premium materials.
Our experienced kitchen designers in Stockton-on-Tees work with you from concept to installation, tailoring every detail around your lifestyle, style, and budget.

We supply and install kitchens from some of Europe’s most prestigious brands, including:
